crushes Entom Tigers, 8-1
Regardless of losing their first game, Opti-mus Prime finally escaped the odds as it made a surge on its defense to trounce Entom Tigers, 8-1 in the 2017 Summer Grand Slam Open Fast Pitch Softball Championship, Pulo Diamond, City of Cabuyao, Laguna, May 21.
Cabuyao Optimus Prime successfully found its offen-sive weapon after grabbing three runs in the first inning. On the other hand, Entom Tigers started to make errors and struggled in their offense giving Cabuyao early cushion.
Optimus Prime continued to show tough defense that translated to an explosion in the second part. Aranzanso made a run, followed by Visaya through R.B.I.
Optimus Prime was able to execute perfect places to catch fly balls same with the Entom Tigers who finally escaped the drought.
Furthermore, Delos Reyes and Magaya answered the rally of Entom as they both had a run to lock the game, 8-1.
Cabuyao Lady Transformers slam Manila II, 15-0
Cabuyao Lady Transformers swept Manila II in a regulation game during the elimination round of the Summer Grand Slam 11 held on May 23 at Banlic Softball Field, City of Cabuyao.
Lady Transformers exhibited a strong defense when the first three batters of their opponents failed to take a base. However, the team started in a slow offense when Freska Catignas, team’s catcher hit a fly ball to the center field that gave the team its first out. The team regained its confidence and took advantage of the defensive errors of Manila II, 4-0.
Manila II tried to comeback in the second inning when its pitcher Sophia Centus successfully hit the ball that sent her to the first base. Manila II tried to steal base and able to send one runner in a scoring position, but the ag-gressiveness of the Lady Transformers hindered their oppo-nent to score. The blazing desire of the Transformers to end the game victoriously maneuvered the second inning, 12-0.
Manila II still failed to score in the top of the third inning. Meanwhile, three Lady Transformers contributed scores in RBI. Officials declared regulation game to offi-cially end the game, 15-0.
